El Poblado, Medellín: residential towers climbing the green hills of the Aburrá Valley

Guide · Day vs night

Parque Lleras by Day vs by Night

The same few blocks live two lives: coffee and shopping by day, bars and clubs by night. What to expect, hour by hour.

Visit Parque Lleras at 11 am and at 11 pm and you would think they were different places. Here is how the park changes through the day — and what to do at each hour.

By day

A calm neighbourhood park

In daylight the park is a tree-shaded plaza where people sit with a coffee from the Juan Valdez on the square. The surrounding blocks are for brunch, cafés and shopping on Vía Primavera. The rebuilt park also has an open-air stage used for cultural events.

By night

The zona rosa wakes up

From around 8 pm the terraces fill, and later the music moves into the clubs — many now a few blocks up in Provenza or down on Calle 10. Drinking alcohol in the plaza itself is not allowed, and the clubs are strictly 18+.

Night brings more crowds and more opportunists: keep your phone hidden and use app-booked rides. See the nightlife guide and safety guide.
