- The airport is an hour away. José María Córdova is on a plateau in Rionegro; the taxi down takes 45–60 minutes at a fixed tariff. A pre-booked transfer is the painless option.
- El Poblado is steep. The Metro is on the valley floor and the nightlife is 15–20 minutes uphill. Walk down, taxi up.
- Cards work everywhere, cash still matters. Withdraw from ATMs in malls by day; carry some pesos for street food and tips.
- The risks are specific. Watch your drink, be careful with dating apps, keep your phone out of sight on the street, use app taxis. That is most of the safety advice.
- It rains in the afternoon. Especially April–May and September–November. Mornings for tours, afternoons for the neighbourhood.
