Provenza Bars

The bars of Provenza, a few blocks above Parque Lleras — from a 1969 corner shop to theatre-fronted clubs and hotel rooftops.

Provenza is where much of the Parque Lleras scene moved — a few leafy blocks uphill, once named one of the world’s coolest streets by Time Out. Its bars run from an old-school corner shop selling aguardiente to multi-floor clubs and hotel rooftops. Here is how to work through them.

Start

Where to begin the night

El Social. A “tienda mixta” corner shop-bar on Carrera 35, open since 1969, where office workers from El Poblado drink beer and aguardiente with empanadas after work. On match days it is packed for the national team.

Alta Gracia. A bohemian café during the day that turns into a cosy cocktail bar at night.

Then

Where the night goes

Vintrash. Three floors of retro decor and different music; Tuesday is its language-exchange party.

Teatro Victoria. Four floors behind a Broadway-style façade, with a dress code.

La House. The club most guided crawls end at, with reggaeton, salsa and techno on different levels.

Rooftops. Yuzu on the 8th floor of the LIN Hotel is a regular crawl starting point — more in our rooftop guide.

Prices and practicalities

Provenza cocktails cost more than bars on the park — see Parque Lleras prices. Many clubs enforce a dress code after 10 pm, and the safest way home is an app-booked ride.
