Elcielo is chef Juan Manuel Barrientos’s multi-course tasting menu in Astorga, served inside the Elcielo Hotel — the only hotel in Medellín currently holding a MICHELIN Key.

An evening, not a dinner
Elcielo is not a place you drop into. The menus run to a dozen or more courses and are built as a sequence of moments rather than dishes — the published menus name rituals like Chocotherapy, Tree of Life, Candle therapy and Coffee Field alongside the food. Plan for it to take the whole evening.
The restaurant sits inside the Elcielo Hotel in Astorga, a quieter, more residential pocket of El Poblado than the streets around Parque Lleras. That distance is deliberate: it is a destination restaurant, not a nightlife one.
If the full tasting menu is more than you want, there is a separate à-la-carte Elcielo Bistró on the same site, and a shorter lunch menu described below.
What it costs
These are the prices Elcielo publishes on its own site. Confirm them when you book — restaurant pricing moves.
- Taste Me — 148,000 COP for two courses, 185,000 COP for three. Lunch only, 12:00–15:00, every day. The cheapest legitimate way in.
- The Journey — 550,000 COP per person, 12 courses.
- The Experience — 700,000 COP per person, around 18 moments.
- Wine pairing — 330,000 COP for four glasses, 460,000 COP for six.
How to reserve
Elcielo books through Precompro, linked from its own site, and answers on WhatsApp at +57 320 681 4821. Add-ons and dietary requirements are handled in the reservation note, so say what you need at the point of booking rather than on arrival — with a fixed multi-course menu, the kitchen needs the warning.
It serves every day including public holidays, which makes it easier to fit into a short trip than most restaurants at this level.
The Michelin question
You will find blog posts calling Elcielo Medellín a Michelin-starred restaurant. That is not correct, and it cannot be: the Michelin Guide does not run a restaurant selection in Colombia at all, so no restaurant in Medellín holds a star.
What is true:
- Elcielo Hotel holds one MICHELIN Key in the 2025 selection. Keys are Michelin’s hotel distinction, a separate programme from restaurant stars, and it does cover Colombia.
- Elcielo’s Michelin stars belong to the group’s restaurants in Washington, D.C. and Miami — different countries, different Michelin selections.
It is a genuinely significant restaurant. It just is not a starred one in Medellín, and anyone telling you otherwise is repeating a mix-up.
From Parque Lleras
Astorga is south of the Lleras and Provenza cluster and far enough that most people take a taxi or an app car rather than walk, particularly after dark or in the rain. It is a short, cheap ride. Build in a buffer: arriving late to a tasting menu that starts as a sequence is awkward for everyone.
Staying at Elcielo, or nearer the park
The obvious move if Elcielo is the reason you came: sleep upstairs. If you would rather be in the middle of the nightlife, the Lleras hotels are the trade-off in the other direction.
